Preparedness Program

The Preparedness Program provides all-hazards preparedness information and resources to those living, working and visiting Colorado.

One of the primary resources the Preparedness Program offers is the READYColorado website. READYColorado hosts a regularly updated blog with a wide variety of preparedness information of interest to the people of Colorado. The Preparedness Program also participates in many community events to spread the preparedness message and provides educational trainings on a variety of preparedness-related topics.  The Preparedness Program manages Colorado’s Citizen Corps program, which includes: Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training, Fire corps, Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) and Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). More information on these U.S. Department of Homeland Security-supported programs is available at Citizen Corps website.

Future goals of the Preparedness Program will focus on the mission areas set forward in the Whole Community approach:

Wetmore Fire

Bioterrorism exercise

La Junta flooding
